Just spent a fantastically brilliant night at this hotel. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Paid for superior double and it totally lived up to my expectations. Room was huge and decor was beautiful. We ate in the hotel and we the three course festive menu was amazing . Totally recomend the chicken stuffed with skirlie. Breakfast was just as good with a fantastic selection of cooked items and all things continental. My only complaint was that we only stayed one night.

“On arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist and made our way to our cosy room, which was very clean and a good size. It was nice to see that the breakfast room was busy the next morning but the service didn't suffer and the breakfast items were all fresh and replenished often. We also had lunch in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious! Would love to stay here again!

What a gem of a hotel, the staff and all so nice and welcoming. Lovely coal fires were a welcome from the cold afternoon, of course enjoyed even more with a glass of wine! Good food in the restaurant and a nice hearty breakfast before we left. Didn't have time to use the pool and spa but looks lovely, we will definately be back! Thanks again to all the staff.

We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times and this time we took up a 'Glasgow Great Deal' offer. Thought our stay might not be as great but it was fantastic! The staff are very friendly and nice. Our room was smaller than usual but completely adequate. We missed breakfast after a late night!! But we had lunch and it was delicious. We will definately be back.

Excellent location in the centre of Drymen and ideal for any hikers (Ben Lomond is about 15 minutes drive). Great for getting to nearby attractions in Balloch or Callander. Lady at reception was very welcoming and helpful, and so were the restaurant staff. Pool and sauna facilities are excellent and very clean.

4 of us with 'Today's Great Deal' descended on Drymen to sample the delights of the Buchanan Arms Hotel. Very warm welcome from reception. Nothing was too much and off we went for lunch which was included in our deal. Great food, well cooked and plenty of it. We would return here over and over again as this hotel is a friendly well run establishment and we had a great mini-break.

A very welcoming hotel which is warm and cosy as you come in out of the cold and rain. Reception extremely helpful and pleasant. Main receptionist is local and very knowledgeable. Room was great with very comfortable bed and plenty of room. Food is absoloutely fantastic and the staff are brilliant.”

Excellent location for visiting Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The hotel is easy to find on the main road in Drymen. Room had character and parking was easy. The hotel serves very good a la carte and set course dinners and the breakfast is buffet, with a good choice. I stayed in late August over a weekend and the room rates were reasonable. Drymen is a small and pretty village and makes an excellent centre for further exploration, with the road leading to the eastern flank of Loch Lomond right opposite the hotel. This side of Loch Lomond is quiet and rural and a world apart from the (sometimes) congested and popular western side.”

Just spent another weekend at this Hotel and Spa. The food here has always been to our liking but there has been a change in the standard raising it to utterly excellent. The breafast is the usual full Scottish but everything very fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The haggis gets singled out for special mention as i could have eaten a whole plate for breakfast, delicious.”

Stayed with pals, found the staff to be excellent. Very attentive and polite. Room was very clean and comfortable. Ate in the restaurant and all 4 of us agreed the food was very good and represented good value. The lady that checked us in was a star with a great sense of humour whilst the lady on night duty was a real character. More than happy to keep the drinks coming and full of stories. I would gladly stay and eat again which is the all important bottom line.”

We visited the Buchanan Arms hotel last week for the first time in a couple of years and couldn't believe the difference. The rooms are lovely, freshly decorated and really clean, the food was excellent and my wife was astounded by the superb Haven Spa. We have stayed 3 times in the past and always enjoyed ourselves but are really impressed by all the improvements.”

Lovely hotel, clean with very attentive staff. Good food in restaurant and great facilities, set in a lovely location! Cannot reccomend this hotel enough and can't wait to go back. Rooms lovely and modern with classic decor!!”

“Very good value for money, food and service were great, and I would recommend this hotel to my friends. Cosy bar still there but the whole place has had a makeover and it is very modern and stylish.”

“We stayed at this hotel after our first day on the West Highland Way. It was excellent value for the price. Nice pool/spa area and changing rooms, immaculate room and bath. Comfortable bed and large TV with lots of channels. Enjoyed the generous breakfast buffet that came with the room price. Friendly service from well-trained staff. Highly recommended!”

“We had booked this through Great Glasgow deal - and it certainly was a deal. We loved every minute from the lovely food to the comfy rooms and luxurious bathroom to the swimming pool, spa, steam room and sauna. Would definitely return without hesitation.”

Great hotel to stopover for us. Very comfortable room all clean and fresh. Good breakfast with good choice of food. Dinner good value as part of room deal.”

“Had a great stay at this hotel. With the family being young, a place with a pool was a must and also not somewhere in the back of beyond! The Buchanan was only one hour from our home in West Lothian and we found the leisure centre to be clean and child freindly. The staff were very attentive and the check in and out was courteous and speedy. Definitely a hotel I would return to and recommend.

“Visited for 3 nights as a base for both touring Loch Lomond and shopping in Glasgow and turned out to be excellent choice. Happy, efficient staff, lovely food (dinner better than breakfast), comfortable public areas including conservatory and cosy little bar and the room although at the back and small was perfectly adequate - shower strength and temperature being something that often lets down less modern hotels were both great.”

We had a large comfortable room at the front of the hotel which was quiet despite being on the road. Breakfast was good with excellent service from the friendly staff. The location of the hotel is a good base for touring Loch Lomond and the Trossachs with Glasgow and shopping a short trip away.”

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night break at Buchanan Arms Hotel. Rooms are nice, food is excellent, both breakfast and evening meal. Well equiped gym and nice pool. Friendly and efficient staff.”

“Excellent choice for relaxing break, quality of food and choice excellent, rooms well maintained, clean and very spacious. Haven spa on site also excellent, would highly recommend hot stone massage as part of your stay, price and choice very good. Staff throughout were very friendly and helpful.”

“My husband and I have just returned from this hotel, the staff could not do enough for you, the food was fantastic, I would definately recommend it, evening meal was practically corden bleu, plenty of hot water any time of the day or night, rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day, pool facilities were excellent, thank you to all the excellent staff for a wonderful stay.”

“Had a lovely room with large bathroom and bath, shower was fantastic, bed lovely and comfortable, flat screen tv on wall with all the freeview channels, everything spotlessly clean. Food was lovely and well presented, breakfast in the morning was great. The lovely thing about this hotel is the staff, every single one of them were so friendly and genuine. I would highly recommend this lovely country hotel, and we will both be returning, soon I hope.”

“The highlight of our stay was the friendliness of the staff with nothing a bother for them. I would highly recommend this fantastic hotel and will definitely be returning in the future.”

“Great location for exploring the Loch Lomond area and nice to be able to walk around the village of Drymen. Food was excellent value for money, probably one of the best breakfasts in a hotel in a long time.”

“This hotel is a little gem. On arrival you notice a wonderful ye olde worlde bar and next to it a lounge area with sofas and an open fire. We stayed in a superior room which had plenty of room, and was away from the main thoroughfares so there was no unwanted noise. Breakfast is a good hot and cold buffet and the evening meals were well priced from a set 2 or 3 course menu. Within 10 minutes of Loch Lomond, and 40 of Stirling, the hotel is ideally placed for exploring this part of Scotland.”

“The hotel is spotlessly clean, beautiful decor & has a warm homely feel about it. Love the open fire. The staff are all very friendly and do all they can to help you. A special thanks goes to Barbara & Jackie, who were fantastic! We went to the dinner/comedy night, which was excellent, dinner was delicious & the comedienne was very good too. Overall, fantastic hotel, staff, food and entertainment. Will definately be back and next time take the kids who will love the pool etc.”

Second visit to Buchanan Arms in two months: and certainly not the last. The hotel has been transformed in the last year. It has the cosy feel of a country house hotel, with a lovely large lounge area with open fire. General manager, Mr John Carpendale heads up a team of very attentive staff. This is a 3 star hotel with good food, good rooms, comfortable public areas, great staff, great pool, gym and spa facilities, beautiful location. Highly recommended!!

“The room was spacious, very nicely decorated and very very clean, with brand new linen and towels. The food was excellent - I would go so far to say it's the very best we have had in the last year from top restaurants to other hotels - I have food allergies and they did very well to adapt the dishes to suit. Overall a wonderful stay - well done to the staff for being so nice and making the weekend special for us.”

“Thoroughly recommend this hotel was great value for money. We visited for a spa weekend and the spa experience was wonderfully relaxing. We had the ultimate spa package which included a fantastic Moroccan foot ritual. Staying with the Moroccan theme the relaxation room in the spa was gorgeous we didn't even make it to the pool or steam room as we just didn't want to leave! The treatments and therapists were first class. All the staff in the hotel were so friendly and made our first visit to this hotel so relaxing.”

“We have just returned home after spending a wonderful Xmas with family and friends at the Buchanan Arms Hotel in Drymen. From checking in on Xmas Eve until our departure on the 27th we were looked after by every member of staff . The hotel is very comfortable and every meal was a delight, congratulations to the chef and staff for the great food. Looking forward to spending next Xmas at the Buchanan Arms............”

“Have been for the past seven years with 100 delegates and the Hotel just gets better every year. Recently been refurbished and has an ideal atmosphere for Conferences. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff who attend to all your needs. Special thanks to Lyndsey who took care of all our requirements and arrangements. All staff are friendly courteous and willing to go out of their way to help with any problem. John Carpendale General Manager seems to be improving the Hotel immensely. Menu and food were excellent. Value for money and would return.”

“We were delighted with this hotel. It was in a perfect location for us to feel we were well away from it all but with the advantage of being just a short drive from Glasgow.”

From our arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble. We were made welcome, all the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent, rooms cleaned daily to a high standard. The hotel is lovely and we were extremely pleased with our room.”

“The Buchanan hosted our Wedding Reception. We dragged a lot of friends and extended family 500 miles up to Scotland for a long weekend - so I was anxious they should all have an enjoyable stay. The hotel was very professional, hugely helpful and very friendly. The building is looking really great having undergone some refurbishment recently. They dealt with our evening function very professionally (with very little input from me); the room looked lovely and the food was excellent and promptly served.”

“Looks like some money has been spent here pretty recently, very spacious beautiful room. Excellent service and a very good venue.”

“The Buchanan Arms Hotel, now, without a shadow of a doubt, is quite definitely the 'HIDDEN JEWEL' within the hotel industry of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. This hotel is quite clearly destined to be held in high esteem.

I had heard that the Hotel had changed ownership towards the end of 2009, and was undergoing extensive refurbishment and improvements, therefore, I decided to return to the Buchanan Arms Hotel, given it's stunning location.

Upon our arrival at the Hotel in early June 2010, the Hotel far exceeded ALL expectations. The new owners have undoubtably set an extremely high precedent, across all areas of the Hotel. It is quite obvious, that new owner Mr Volker has extensive experience at the higher end of the scale within the hotel industry, and as such, Mr Volker has extremely exacting standards.”
