Waliking & Cycling In The Trossachs

Loch Lomond and Trossachs truly is a walkers paradise. So many walks to choose from, ranging from light strolls to more strenuous climbs, including the famous Ben Lomond and the Cobbler, both close at hand - all against a backdrop of breathtaking mountain scenery, rolling countryside, lochs and glens - and spectacular waterfalls.

Visit Rob Roy MacGregor's grave at Balquhidder Glen and continue on to enjoy superb views over Loch Voil, or walk from the picturesque town of Callander to the Callander Crags where you will be rewarded with a panorama which reaches as far as Stirling , the Ochils Hills and the Pentland Hills over Edinburgh . Other areas for keen walkers include sections of the famous West Highland Way . For gentler family walks, it is possible to follow disused railway tracks between Callander and Strathyre, or the Glen Ogle Trail from Lochearnhead.

The area is also famed for its mountain scenery which provides unsurpassed opportunities for cyclists, most especially the fittest of mountain bikers and racers, since the mountains of nearby Breadalbane in particular are amongst the highest in Scotland . The cycle track circumnavigating Loch Katrine offers glorious scenic beauty while the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park has Britain 's largest network of off-road cycle tracks. The relatively safe, quiet roads off the main routes also offer more leisurely family cycling. This is particularly true around the quieter country lanes around the Trossachs, along the shores of Loch Voil and on the Callander to Strathyre cycle way.

Some of the highlights include:

Salmon Fishing
Wonderful local golf on delightful, quiet courses
Shooting on the moors
Pony Trekking through glorious glens
